4d reader/writer

-------------------------------------

I have 3d professional on my laptop but a 4d reader/writer. When I send a design, it gives an error message of no d-Card reader/writer unit connected. Can you help? Thanks.

I'm sorry, I cannot. Have you tried upgrading your software? Downgrading your hardware? Or asking Husqvarna for assistance?

With some combinations of software and reader/writer you have to use the same USB port each time you use the reader/writer. Another issue is the USB Host Controller. Some laptop makers use USB Host Controllers that do not consistently provide proper voltage for the reader/writer. This can sometimes be corrected by using a USB hub with a separate power supply.

I don't know what, if any, difference there is between the 3D and 4D reader/writers, but have you installed the r/w with the software? I ask because I have had problems. I bought a 3D r/w, expecting to use it with my old Rose machine, and found that it had no software, and that I should have bought the software first, then added the hardware to it.

I couldn't just connect and go, which is perhaps what you have been trying to do, but had to install it first.

Forgive me if I'm underestimating you; I'm not a computer boffin, just an embroiderer who gets help when necessary, and is thankful that I usually can.

I sought help recently for a way to install the old customiser on an old laptop I acquired, because the 3½" installation discs are corrupt, and was told by Husqvarna that they no longer support even the 3D software! This shocks me, as I can't believe they expect people to upgrade their equipment every couple of years! Lack of support for the old win 98 equipment is not surprising, though my r/w and cards are still in working order, just unusable on Win XP.
