We all mean to try all the decorative stitches in our machines but
often never get around to it. Here's a way to try them and create
great fabric for Holiday projects. Cut a piece of fabric you will use
and put rows of organza ribbon or strips of crystal organza randomly
spaced across it. Then stitch down the ribbons with your decorative
stitches - metallic thread is great for this. You can also put some
rows of just stitches between the ribbons. Then you can use your fancy
fabric for embroidery or to cut blocks for piecing.
