Bernina Artista 170

Hi, New to your group, I thought you might be able to help me. I have a Brother PE700II embroidery machine. Love It!! I just inherited a Berena Art. Quilter Edition with embro unit. Can anyone tell me what format it uses? Can I download designs from computer, like I do with my brother. Have NO Manual Thanks Jackie

Yes, you can download design files.

I believe that the 170 is old enough that it doesn't recognize some .ART designs created with later versions of Artista Software.

Unfortunately, very few of the readily available embroidery programs can convert TO your new system's required .ART format. As far as I know, the only programs that can convert your library of .pes files to .art format are Bernina's own Artista and OESD's Sizing Magician.

You should be fine with ART 4 or earlier. I have some designs on my website,

, although these days I concentrate on lessons for the Bernina software. You will need Bernina software to convert any existing designs in other formats. I can't remember how the designs are transfered to the 170, If you can send via cable you should have got some software to operate this. If it only has cards you will need a card reader writer box. Either way you need to check whether these are compatable with your current computer system as the technology is quite old now.
