Hi

Are Janome embroidery only machines good?
How much is the average price for a machine that can make big
embroidery and how much for small embroidery.

Thanks,

Carly

They can do both if different model is purchase, see limitations on each
machines hoop size. I do not like Janome machine embroidery and their
designs are not very exciting. The best embroidery machine is made by
Brother who have a new Innovis range out now, including embroidery only to
suit all pockets. The Brother designs are better than Janome but still not
particularly inspiring. Husquarvarna do lovely designs and they stitch out
well on the Brother machines.

This type of question always tends to be a real can of worms..

Personally, I would not have any Janome manchine as a gift. I bought
one once, and it was a real boat anchor -door stop -, and in reality
was really best suited for landfill. There are many, many other
people who have had very similar experiences with Janome.

I do know for a fact that the machine you are discussing, the 300e has
been problematic for many people, most of whom have cited tension
problems that no one could satisfactorily resolve.

There are many people who like Janome machines, and they are welcome
to them, and I am glad that they are pleased with their machines, but
they are certainly not everyone.

That all being said, I will also say this .... You really need to go
to a few dealers and try out the various brands of machines, and see
which brand appeals to you the most, and not just take the advice of
any of us here, as your population sample size is simply far too
small.

However, I personally would not purchase from a dealer, because I find
them to be the source of extremely overpriced machines, and of little
real help if you have a problem. I have also seen far too many
"authorized dealers" close one night and just dissappear, leaving
their patrons out in the cold to fend for themselves. Nor are many
"authorized dealers" all that knowledgeable about the products that
they sell.

We were not impressed with the Janome either. Lack of features and
convenience of usage were big factors against the Brother/BabyLock
machines,

As far as stitch accuracy the Janome $6K machine samples were no
better than the Brother $250 machine samples.

I like the training videos right onscreen on my Brother when I forget
how to do a blind hem stitch or other rarely done things.

In a year of service no tension problems from mine. There was a
discussion on this at the Yahoo group site, but it was easily solved
with a few suggestions from members of that group.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EasyeethreeMachines/ Janome machines
are reasonably priced and as a repair person I appreciate the quality
and construction of the machines, add to that a reasonable price and
dealers willing to sweeten a deal it is a good choice. The new Janome
TOL is by far the most advanced machine out yet, with very few
reported glitches unlike the Pfaff's, Bernina's and the flaming HV
machines of the past couple of years. Brother machines have also had
their fair share of problems which are well documented on their
groups. All brands do, but with the support and help of the machine
specific lists these are easily overcome for any machine.
Buyers must also be aware that Janome makes machines for many of the
brand names...Brother is one of them.
