Hi All, I recently bought a Hasqvarna Viking #1+ for my DIL as a Christmas
present. I know next to nothing about it. I have their Customizing Plus
software 6.2, and their reader writer still need a programmable card. My
first question is there a third party programmable card I can use? I am
having trouble finding the HV's programmable card. My second question is
can she use the floppy diskettes and if so how? Does the embroidery
machine have a floppy disk driver that she can insert any designs she
create on her computer into the machine? The reader/writer comes with a
parallel port to attach to the computer would an 36 pin USB to Parallel
IEEE 1284 Printer Adapter Cable work to hook it up to the computer? Is
there anything else she will need to be able to use it?
Thanks,
Nancy

Not that I know of.
I am having trouble finding the HV's programmable card.
Should be available through your local HV dealer.

No.

No. That's what the programmable card is for.

That might work. You would probably be better off to buy a new USB card
reader/writer, which comes with a programmable card.

Not quite true. I have floppies with designs on, which I put into my
computer and transfer through the reader/writer to the programmable card.
This machine sounds like an old model, so the software and R/W will not
work with Win XP or later. It probably needs Win 98 or 95, as well as
the parallel port. I had Win 98 reinstalled on my pc when I bought a
more modern one.
I bought a new R/W for my Husqvarna Rose through Ebay, so am now able to
use Win XP and a USB port, but I still use the floppies to transfer
designs, as well as CDs.

Okay now I am really confused. If I get the usb reader/writer how do you
get the designs onto the embroidery machine? Does the newer usb reader
have the same size programmable cards as the old ones?
Thanks

Yes, the only difference is that you can get a lot more on the new one.
I don't think either card can be used in the other R/W, but both work
in my old Rose machine.
