embroidery system for husqvarna #1

Hi, I would like to start using my Husqvarna #1 embroidery machine after a long time sitting idle. The reader writer will not install on my new computer to use the old customizing plus 5.1 software that I have.

Is there hardware and software I can buy to be able to get going again? I'd like to not spend a ton of money. I really just want to take purchased designs off the web and arrange them perhaps with lettering, and then sew them up. Are there 3rd party software available that creates .hus files? My experience with Viking software was not good in 1999... The customizer software was ok, but the digitizer software was awful software, hard to install, hard to use.

If you have the dongle and it's faulty, Viking should replace it.
