~~~~~~~~~TIP~~~~~~~~~
Some regular stabilizers (not water soluble of those that are applied
with water) can shrink and cause your embroidery to pucker when the
item is steam pressed or washed. To see if yours shrinks, cut a square
and measure it. Then give it a good pressing with a lot of steam.
When dry measure again. If there is a difference, be sure to steam
and press that particular stabilizer before you hoop. I have also
found some mesh iron on stabilizers can shrink. I always give these a
shot of steam (holding iron above, not touching) before I iron them
on.
*THE SOLAR SYSTEM* I had great fun creating these designs. I used them
to make a vest, but they would also make a great quilt or fleece throw
- they'll even teach about our solar system!
GARDEN* Two sets - one to make a window panel and one designs to
create your own project. Xiang Yun was a servant in the Red Mansion
(from Chinese most famous masterpiece) and she wandered from the
mansion and fell sleep in the peony garden.
permission to create one of her husband's painting in embroidery. This
set is on Pre Pay and will take approximately two weeks to complete.
There are now 7 designs completed.
...snipped the ad...
Well, that certainly was the best hint I've read in a while. The last thing I
embroidered was on a
sweat shirt and the darn thing puckered like crazy after I had washed it (hung
the darn thing to dry
too). I also had preshrunk the shirt first so it shouldn't have been a problem.
I will now be
checking my stabilizer prior to using it.
Thanks
Happy that it might help someone. :) We have experienced that as well
and it can be so frustrating after putting all of that time into a
project.
Thanks and happy stitching,
Kerrie
