needing help with a ruffle

needing help with a ruffle crafty 05-10-2007

can anyone please help me with a ruffle? I'm making a ruffle for the
bottom of a pair of pants and the thread keeps breaking any help will
be appreciated. thanks.TIA

I'm guessing here that the thread that is breaking is the
bobbin threads you are pulling to gather the ruffle. If so,
try using *topstitching* or *buttonhole-twist* thread in the
*bobbin*, loosen the needle thread tension, and increase the
stitch length to 7-6 stitches-per-inch. And I always sew
two gathering stitches, the first just outside the seam
allowance, the second 1/4" away in the seam allowance.

You will do better with answers to general sewing questions
in alt.sewing, but if this really was a machine embroidery
question, my apologies for misunderstanding.
