I don't know what the name of the show is, but it's fascinating. I think
it's Burt Wolff on his travels, and he's visitng embroidery houses in
Europe. Coutoure fabrics, just gorgeou, and very interesting.

It's on MPT (Maryland Public Television) right now - started at 4. They're
at Bischoff Textiles now - showing the library of hundreds of historic books
that designers come to look at. And showing an amazing goldwork, handmade
toreodor outfit.

Interesting. Ah, I checked the web site - it is Burt Wolf in St. Gallen,
Switzerland.

If you ever get to England then try to visit Hardwick Hall in
Derbyshire, there are some wonderful 16th and 17th-century tapestries
and embroideries. The place was built in a hurry, in the winter they
mixed the mortar with beer because the weather was so cold that water
just froze.

While you're there try Haddon Hall too

Ah, places I have visited. In the late 80s I spent the better part of 2
years working in the UK (near Southend). And had lots of opportunity to
tour. Probably good for about a month a year in the UK for most of the 80s
and 90s. Hmmm, someone I know - either my aunt or me actually has some
china in "Haddon Hall" pattern. Good references.

I did a lot of tapestry and embroidery looking in France as well. This show
just struck me as the fabrics I suddenly saw were really something.

It's not on here. At least not at this time. I will look for it because
usually all the public service stations carry the same programs, but at
different time.

I don't know - here the 2 stations have some things at different times.
About half the show was about the embroidery. Some sumptuous fabrics.
