Welcome. Up here in Nova Scotia on the eastern seaboard of Canada we
also have what we call Hen Scratching. It is cross stitch done on
gingham, or checked cotton, and it was very popular years ago as a
fairly quick, inexpensive way to decorate everyday items, such as
tablecloths and napkins.

Vague examples here

Welcome, Sandy! You've come to the right place, and you'll fit right in!

You were right about the distinction between "counted" cross stitch and
"stamped" cross stitch.

If you'd like to put photos of your work online, many of us from this
group participate in a yahoo group for just that purpose. Let us know if
you're interested in joining and we can send you the information.

Welcome, Sandy:

As you'll see we are quite a diverse group. Lots of postings both on

Hello Sandy,

There used to be quite a few Aussies on here, but I believe we're down
to a handful these days.

A bunch of us who lived in Sydney used to meet up at various shops and
inspire each other to purchase more stash.

I now live in Melbourne, where I was originally from, and don't know
any other rctners down here.

Hope you're enjoying Wollongong. :)

All for now.

Rosemary
