A friend gave me an embroidered folkloric skirt , embroidered all
over , with Shishas and lovely stiches ,,, She pleased me as i like
wearing this kind of clothes , esp on Holy Days and Exhibitions
openings !!! I found that some of the embroidery was loose , or
torn ,, but i can`t find the Exact threads , and even if i could find
it , the `New part ` will Stick out as a sore. thus i chose a
varigated thread that looked as close to the colour the original
threads has now ,,,, i remade the stiches ,, finnished it and looked
from a small distance ,,,, I couldn`t see the repairment .
the varigated thread looks like the threads that lost some of it color
over years of wearing and washing .

It sounds like a clever solution.
It is interesting what variagated threads can do; the ordinary ones, not
the hand-dyed or sampler type, aren't used very much any more, but they used
to be popular. I have some old table centres and pillowcases that use them.
I suppose when there weren't as many colours in the store variagated threads
sort of filled in the gaps.
Shisha work was very often seen over here in the 60s and 70s; I had some
nice pieces in my hippy days. You've made me nostalgic and want to find
somethng to add some to.
