OMG - I will never make this mistake again. I had an interview with a temp
agency yesterday, so I wore the dressy flats. And didn't throw the sneakers
in the car or go home and change before doing the errands. Nor did I wear my
arch support orthodics.
Never ever - I walked all of the renovated BJ's - hard concrete floors in
those flats.
And then have to go to DD's final elementary school concert and have climb
the bleachers ( changed the shoes first). (BTW, the chorus was great and not
just because she is in it)
Every joint in my feet is on fire. And the ankle ones too.
Guess what I have to do today - go back to BJ's and do some returns.
After I put my feet up for an hour

I feel your pain. I used to wear sneakers or mocassins to travel by subway
back and forth to work.
I am unlucky enough to have inherited my beloved grandmother's feet. I
adore shoes and probably have purchased at least 200,000 pairs over the
years, including metal spike heels, high and low wedgies, fashion low heels,
flats and sneakers in all colors and styles.
Now I'm stuck with mostly clogs and wide toed shoes because I have my
grandmother's bunions. I miss the pretty shoes that I gave away just a few
years ago. Most of the high heels went to a local soup kitchen in a church
in a very poor neighborhood where I understand the "ladies of the night"
from that neighborhood loved my heels. At least I know they went to loving
homes.
Try to take care of your feet. When they hurt your whole body feels funny.

You make me think of my mother, she loooved her shoes, me I always
loved comfort. She wound up with bunions but I have nice, healthy
feet from being barefoot whenever I can.
I had a pedicure one day in one of those conveyor belt places and was
quite chuffed to note my feet were better looking than many of the
young things lol
I thought they could cut bunions out now ? Painful but successful
operations.

I feel your pain. In the past two years or so, I've started having the
same issues. Have to wear different shoes for different activities -
can't walk in house shoes, can't wear walking shoes too long. Can no
longer go the whole day in slippers - need some part of the day with
some arch support. (I think of it as akin to wearing my retainer at
night...a necessary "brace" prescribed for part of the day.)
I finally invested in a pair of Dansko "dressy" clogs - closed backs,
great arch support. Set me back some big bucks, but I figured it's
cheaper than the medical bills of NOT having good shoes!
I've never been a shoe person - would go barefoot as much as possible at
home, and would only ever have two or (max) three pairs of shoes I would
ever switch off between - one for athletics, one for Sundays, one for
every other day. Comfort always trumped fashion, and never heels (I'm
already plenty tall). Paying attention to my feet is a new feeling - in
their sixth decade, the feet are starting to complain. Loudly.

Ack - if barefoot didn't work for you maybe my feet have my fathers
genes or something.
