My son was 11 when he started to use it. In this heat everyone needs it and
if they don't well than a parent will have extra.

My ds (and now dd's) 5th grade teacher said on one of the first days of
school that the kids should start using deodorant and she had some if
they did not. I guarantee you it is needed - and in fourth grade as
well!
Also, many minority children (particularly girls) hit puberty at a
younger age and may need it as young as 8.

HMMM -- looks like I will include a small container of deodorant in
the kits -- along with funky hair "joooles" (as the SMDGD calls them)

This is true. My oldest (daughter) hit it at age 9 and my 5 year old
daughter wears deodorant now, so I am guessing she'll be an early
bloomer like her sister. Trust me, she really does need to wear it!

Okay, I don't have kids living with me, so the thought of young kids
wearing deodorant would never have occured to me. That said, I know
there are soaps and shampoo that target kids, are there deodorant on
the market for younger kids, or do they usually use the adult scents?
Hubby and I have a family in Mississippi we have "adopted" and I guess
I have a new item to add to their care package!
