Thanks, Brenda - just what I needed. Every little helps - I`ll go shopping
tomorrow.

Do you think perhaps with the price of shipping a package, a monetary
contribution might be better. If you gave it to one of the bigger
organizations I think they would use it to buy whatever is needed and you
could save the postage.

I`ll send something light and useful, like panties, teeshirts etc., so the
postage won`t be prohibitive, Lucille - I don`t give money to the big
organisations in particular. It`s well known that too much of it is spent
on admin. and "fund-raising banquets".
I just this minute saw the News, and there was a lorryload od relief stuff
from Houston - and they said they had "EVERYTHING" you could think of on
the lorry - including Babywipes!!! Had to chuckle at that, I must confess.
I`d send some myself, but they ARE too heavy to post. All we can do is send
what we think is best and most needed. What we`d most value as assistance
ourselves, in fact.
Non prescription drugs such as Immodium, (diarrhoea control) would be REALLY
useful in the current situation, too.

I was thinking the same thing. The wisdom here is give it to the Red
Cross in your own country, with a statement it is for the ARC for
Katrina. They are good people and administer their funds well and
you can feel the high cost of postage then gets used for about ten
bars of soap or something.
That's what I did and I shall repeat it again next month, guess they
will still be open for business then too, perhaps even needing it more
when the knee jerk response fades.

I`ll probably do both - particularly as I had another win on "Ernie" and one
on the lottery this weekend! LOL!
