I've never tasted the stuff. My grandmother was kosher so she would never
buy it, my mother wouldn't allow it in the house because she didn't trust
it and I didn't like the looks of it.

I suppose I should try it just to see what it tastes like.

But back in those days we were not gourmets. The only thing I hated was
"vegetables" as a group. Peas were OK, you could swallow them whole and
also potatoes. Otherwise...Barf.

It must have been hard for my Mum. I am growing veggies now, and
thankfully Jim loves all squashes, tomatoes, peppers and can't wait for
the eggplants to come on/ They have about five weeks before we leave for
the summer!!!
