#1) I apologize for the topic deviation -- I need help/and, well, since
I"m here all the time I was hoping someone crafty could fill this
request. You see, years ago Debbie crocheted this beautiful little
doily thing for me. I'd tucked it aside (she made two!) for special
ocassions.

In any event I also happen to have this pretty green vase and wanted to
hang it from the wall with a vine in it. Vine has been gotten, an the
doily looked great -- very starry -- but I've tied it up using tiny
blue ribbon.
I'd like to replace the ribbon with (approximately!) six feet of
matching yarn. But it's cotton thread like versus yarn-yarn, and I
didn't want to hunt/find/buy a full skein for a couple of yards.

Picture here: http://www.janice142.com/Temp/GreenVase.jpg

So, to make this short (or is it too late for that now?) I'd like
approximately 6' of the stuff -- and of course am willing to reimburse
your postage too. I'm in the states -- Florida and would very much
appreciate your assistance. It really will look better with the strands
going up the same color, don't you think?

Thanks for considering my request, and for your patience re the
off-topic post.

P.S. - The ribbon is a leftover from a needleroll. (There, back on
topic!)

Janice, the yarn looks to me like Coats & Clark "Sugar & Cream", which
is a tapestry weight cotton. It comes in various variegated colors as
well as solid colors. A local store carries a good variety. It's
*very* cheap. Do you want solid or something that approximates what the
doily is made of?

Hi Dianne. I'm hoping for something similar or a solid cream colored --
same thread though (um, yarn thickness versus skinny because i'm going
to pull it all up (following the way I did the blue ribbon) and make
the stars pointy sort of.

http://www.janice142.com/Temp/GreenVase.jpg -- I've got some fabrics to
make curtains (going to go with a watery/starry effect) and the vase is
supposed to hang in the middle.

Fabrics here: http://www.janice142.com/Temp/Curtains.jpg
I've got a fourth blue "almost" moda with stripes and bubbles for below
the whales, and will go with a couple of green modas as long seaweeds
from the bottom. These layers will be not straight and rigid but curvy
instead. I'll also probably use some brighter colors (along the bottom
of the curtains) and applique fans.

Yes, that should keep me out of trouble for a time! Still, I don't
anticipate the curtains being all that difficult. I'm not gathering
them per se -- will just slide them on rods and be done with it. Once
the black-stars layer is done at the top, the rest should pin/stitch
together quite casually. I'm going to attempt to keep the whales bodies
from being chopped -- that layer will be the most difficult, especially
making it work with the planets above.

The "fun" part is that none of these fabrics was bought with this
intended use. I've been sorting my crafting and these just went
together so well in my mind... and then my friend Sarah gave me the
vine and I had that vase, and then the doily worked and and and.

I do manage to keep myself busy.
Though I appreciate the offer to buy, I'm really just looking for a
tiny bit -- specifically 6 feet will suffice and more wouldn't be used.
I don't even think I'll need 6 full feet but asked for a bit extra
"just in case"

And yes, I should have measured the blue ribbon before I tied it --
there are 8 points to the star, and all are woven around the neck of
the vase, around another ribbon piece. Anyway, the shape is pleasing to
me. I like it -- just think it would look better if the blue ribbon was
the same/similar to the base part. I'll also make a little ring gizmo
thingie to hang it on the wall with the excess from the weaving part.

And thanks for your offer!

I may have some cream yarn on hand. If not, I'll pick some up. Email
me your snail mail. I'll use what's left, not to worry.
