If you mean scraps, you've got'm. The way I cut the top out, there
should be one piece that's about a yard long and maybe about 15" wide.

Love the topic! Can't wait to find some new designers to go ga-ga over. The
few LNS's that remain in existence here have decades old models on the walls
and lots of holiday themed works. Not a lot of inspiration can be had
anymore from browsing the walls, so unless someone in RCTN raves a designer
up, I've been mostly at a loss.
As I said in the TW thread, she's always been tops for me for the challenge.
Not into the fantasy aspect, but stitch them anyway just for something to
"do". I like her fruit patterns and bell pulls as well as her Christmas
themed charts best.
I really, really like stitching art reproductions, but most of the quality
patterns are so expensive and they're just not in my budget at the moment so
they're all relegated to to my wish list. I keep putting them on my
Christmas list each year, but nobody seems to think they're "good" presents.
If I ever win the lottery, I know just which ones I'm going to get.
Recently I've been drawn to the Victoria Sampler and Drawn Thread, but
haven't stitched anything by either yet.
Also really drawn to celtic knotwork and similar geometrical designs as
well, Cheryl. There were a couple Ink Cirlces patterns I just saw in the NN
catalog that jumped out at me as well. I'm going to have to check them out
further when I get the chance.
Formerly into MLI, P Buckley Moss (have them all), Diane Graebner, and Paula
Vaughan. We're going way back, here.
Not really into whimiscal stuff, "country", or realistic animals, but I do
like stitching realistic birds on silk gauze. Don't ask me why -- I
absolutely *hate* birds in real life. Must be that challenge thing again.
Yep, that's pretty much my list.

I *really* like the fractals but have absolutely nowhere to put them
if I did them, so I have resisted. The other thing that helps in the
resistance is I can't decide which I like the best, so don't get any!
There's something about those intense colors, though........

The patterns that you are referring to are called fractals and you can bet
your sweet
cookie that the ones at NN are SENSATIONAL. I bought a dozen designs to see
which ones would look the best on the round footstools that I make. I
usually stray
from pattern instructions a bit so before I start I have to decide if I'm
going to use
virgin wool yarn or pearle cotton - it will depend on if I can get all the
colors needed.
Right or wrong with so many suppliers and stores bailing out of cross stitch
and
needlepoint products I have plans to jump in to fill some of the gaps. My DW
thinks
that I'm a few clowns short of a complete circus but I've nearly doubled the
amount
of products that some how always seem to get made.
I have massive amounts of yarn particles floating around in my shop (thank
goodness
the air system gets most of them) and probably an equal amount of sawdust
embeded
in most of the stitching. Maybe my new folly should be called, "Sawdust 'n'
Yarn" LOL
