I did Santa of the Forest on 18 ct canvas, using a mixture of Medici
wools, floss and metallics. I didn't do any backstitching, as I
recall. I gave it as a gift so I don't have it here to look at
to confirm that, but I seem to recall that the nose was clear enough
just with the color changes that backstitching wasn't needed. If
you feel that you would like that area to have more definition, try
just two strands of floss for backstitching. good luck!
