Hi Guys,
Just returned from 6 1/2 weeks at the cabin in Lizard Land with
Cassie (Baby Cat). The last week DH was there but I managed to ignore
him most of the time. I didn't go anywhere or even go down to the
valley except for the weekend before the SMDGD started school! I DID
get to spend all my time by myself doing what I wanted when I wanted in
the manner I wanted :-))).
I took several needlework projects but never touched needle to
fabric once!! I DID make two large (80" sq.) quilts (one for MOI - a
Christmas - Winter cat quilt), a lap quilt (40" x 72") various and
assorted small stocking stuffer types of things and this year's
Christmas dress for the SMDGD.
The day that the SMDGD started school this year (17 Aug.) DD had to
take Gizmo, my old GranDOGhter, to the Baby Dr. and send her on the road
to the Rainbow Bridge. She decided that, while she DOES want Cheeto, it
was too soon after Gizmo's departure. We decided we will be taking him
with us when we go at Christmas. The SMDGD thinks that DD has put the
kibosh on that idea so she will be quite surprised when we show up with
him :-).
Speaking of the little beast -- Cheeto, not Raechel -- he had fun
messing up anything that could be messed up since the DA left a week
ago! There was mail everywhere, placemats were off the kitchen table,
cat toys strewn throughout the entire house....... If you've ever had a
little kitten you know what I am talking about. DH took him to the Baby
Dr. for his second set of shots and he had gained about 2 lbs. in the 4
weeks that I had been gone. It's been another 2 weeks and DH is sure
the little beast probably weighs 5# now!! Wouldn't surprise me in the
least.
OK -- I'm tired so will be heading off to bed. I'm DONE sewing for
awhile and plan on doing a bunch of needlework ASAP! I REALLY wish I
was back in the mountains but I did miss my kitties and my house, etc.

Well, I *returned* sane & rested. Of course, that doesn't mean I
stayed that way! Something went wonky with the water heater or the run
off thingy part of the a/c unit in the basement and DH spent days
chasing it around trying to find the problem and then fix it before
coming to Lizard Land. Heaven forbid that he would actually call in a
professional !!! Before he left to come to Lizard Land to spend my last
week in the mtns' with MOI, he had turned off the water heater. Can you
see where this is leading?!?!?!? When we finally returned home last
night, he went down to turn on the water heater and guess what??? There
had apparently been ANOTHER leak somewhere and the carpet in the
"living" area of the basement was soaked through! All of this after
having the SAME thing happen in June.
So the water was turned off last night -- AFTER I had my nice long
soak in the tub -- and we couldn't flush the toilets. Good thing he
filled several gallon jugs with water so I at least had something to use
to brush my teeth and wash my face this morning. Add to that the fact
that it's dead calm here and HUMID and I have to set the a/c down to
about 75 to even be able to breathe and I'm just happy as a pig in poop.
I wish I could just pack up all of my crafts & needlework & sewing
stuff and take my kitties and go back to the mountains. It was
beautiful up there and I am beginning to realize that I am just not
