In one of the embroidery works i am doing , i thought seriously about
using a Gold thread. But once i fingered it , i didn`t like the
metalic feel . Than i tried another , it was too slippery. I can`t
touch man made threads, I tried several `kinds` and makes of gold,,,
and when i saw that i won`t like working with it i looked for a nice
cotton that will give a simile of gold,,
Pearl cotton 8, color 348 when worked over and with blue thread gives
me the image i wanted...

I have used gold coloured rayon thread instead of metallic gold thread
several times--the look is different, but it does have a nice sheen to it,
and somehow a richer colour. It is not easy to work with, but even so, many
of the metallics are nastier.

Yes,it sounds as if you found something that worked perfectly for you. What
I did worked in the places I used it, and I think other people have likely
found other ways to replace metallics. Maybe they will share them????
