They sound like needles that my dad used bout 30 yrs ago in his upholstery
business.
Think he used then for some form of cording sewing, only thing is the size
that is throwing
me since the only ones I've seen and used were at least 6 inches min. up to
12 inches. If
my memory is good they were used when doing things like buttons on
chairs/couches and
with the eyelet it made it easy to quickly undo to keep the tension on the
tuff look.
I remember to thread them easily, you would hold the needle at 90 degrees to
thread while
inserting together then lay the needle flat on thread and gave it a pull to
lock them together.
