Is Appleton Crewel now the finest all-wool embroidery yarn available?
I don't embroider, but I use Medici to darn socks and to sew patches
on wool. After I heard the scandalous news, I bought a hank of
black Medici and two hanks of white. Together with what I already had
on hand, these should last the rest of my life, or at least until my
hands get so knotted up that I have to wear off-the-rack clothing --
but sooner or later, I'm going to want some other color. I bought a
skein of chocolate Appleton at the same time as the Medici, and it's
acceptable for repair work, but if there's something finer and
smoother on the market, I don't want to ignore it.
