I don't think so. The ads say it is made from regular sugar -- just
about as sweet but lots less calories. I have a bunch in the kitchen
(DH is diabetic) and I'll look at the ingredients -- IF I can remember

Well this is from the Splenda site http://tinyurl.com/yf9qp4k it would
seem it is sucralose, but I didn't feel it clarified what that was
exactly. I suppose another type of 'fructose' - who knows. I'll
take a pass as I often skip sugar, even in recipes, but can see if
diabetic it might be useful.

I was surprised in hospital how sweet the food was - sickenly sweet to
my taste and I said so to the dietician who did not appreciate it.
Even bran flakes came coated in sugar. I bet she knew that my
ex-neighbour was the one (he is a great cook) who when asked replied
that if you liked food that tasted like cardboard and was the
consistency of snot then he guessed those people would like the food.

After looking some more, it looks like Equal is the big aspartame based
sweetener, Splenda based on sucralose (chemical derivative of sucrose) -
both have dextrose and maltodextrin. Truvia is made from a specific part of
the stevia plant, as well as some other fruit sugars from pears and other
fruits.

This link has some info on sucralose, could be followed to the other
ingredients.

http://www.ific.org/publications/brochures/sucralosebroch.cfm

They have a bunch of info.

Personally, I don't use these much at all - and just deal with natural
sugars, honey. But, I'm not much of a sweets person anyhow. Can't deal
with the aspartame flavored "sugar-free" stuff at work, and also, hence, the
rare diet soda.

OOO -- IAYP -- no, I only "do" crunchy Cheetos. I like all things
crunchy except for insects. I don't like them in any manner :-). As
for thye whole Pepsi (diet or not) it's a dirty word down here in Coke
Country. That's one of the things I will be glad to have when we move
back to Lizard Land. ALL of the vending machines will be equally
weighted between Coke & Pepsi products. Sometimes, I have to search all
of the cold cases at the front of the Walmart and if I am lucky, I
*might* find one half of one shelf with a mix of diet and reg Pepsi!

Ah, woman you've named my favorite junk snack! You're so right - not that I
actually indulge in this too often, but, still... Yum.
