I just started making coiled fabric bowls and am LOVING it! They are quick
to make up *on the sewing machine* (YAY!) and look great with any fabrics
including seasonal fabrics. My first one was large and oval with handles- I
really challenged myself for my first attempt. It took about 4 hrs. with a
$3 bundle of 100 ft. of cotton clothesline from WalMart and approx. a yard
of fabric. The second one is round and fairly large, too, and will take a
total of about 2.5 to 3 hrs. to finish. My ex 'fixed' my computer so well
that now my camera won't talk to it, so I am waiting for him to un-fix it...
hence no pics of what I've done so far. Here are some links and directions-

My parents are at an age where they 'don't need or want anything'. I am
making one with handles to surround a 10 in. casserole dish- they love to go
to both their retirement community's and their church's potluck dinners. It
will be a practical and unique gift for them to carry a hot casserole or
other food item. I'll include a Pyrex covered casserole dish inside the
fabric basket for their Christmas gift. Prolly I'll fill the casserole dish
with my homemade caramels, too. The folks do love those!

You're welcome!

I just re-read her directions. I prefer to use a spring loaded clothespin
over a binder clamp but either would work. Here's a link to some decorated
bowls. Even prettier!

I love that even crappy "what was I thinking" fabric looks terrific.

Cindy, you are so right. I've had the most pleasant outcome from the most
horrible "what was I thinking" fabric.
