I made the sky from blocks the size of the nine-patch blocks
in the stairs, so they were quite big. I don't think I ever
made the EXACT pattern. I just sized the blocks to what I
wanted, and on one larger version I had seven cat
silhouettes. There is a great web site that has lots of
them -
http://www.xmission.com/~emailbox/graphics.htm - and I liked to use different ones for a bit of variety.
One silhouette I did on a couple of quilts was of a cat
walking towards the right, and I put it at the bottom left
corner and cut off, as if the cat was walking "off stage".
Another was of a cat stretching upwards as if reaching or
sharpening claws, right in the centre at the bottom as if in
front of the stairway reaching up. Picking the cats for
each quilt was always fun.
BTW - depending on the size of your xmas tree quilt a good
source for decorations is the flashy little earrings and
brooches they have in the discount shops around Christmas.
You can pick them up for next to nothing right after
Christmas in the sales. We bought up the whole lot here
last year, ready for next year lol
This year I am making a mini version of the wall hanging and
I have a set of pewter bracelet charms representing the 12
days of Christmas to use on it. I plan to use glass beads
for lights, and string very small beads for garlands.

: Thanks for the hint on the Stairway to Heaven. I now have
all the
: fabric, but would never have thought about piecing the
sky. Do you do
: HSTs or square blocks like the left side of the quilt?

: Have all the fabric ready for your Christmas Tree
Wallhanging too, but

way a bit. I

later. I even
