Well, as many of you know, my DD lives within a mile of me but my son lives
in Florida near my mom. DD has my 5 yo grandson and my now 4 week old grand
daughter. My son has my almost 4 yo grand daughter. My son has lived in
Florida for well over 10 years and has not come back home since. We always
go there. Until several weeks ago! His wife's family has a lake house in
the Poconos and she and my grand daughter flew up to spend two weeks there.
My son drove up to spend the last week with them but stopped at our house
for the weekend! Slept here and everything! It was also my DH's birthday
so lots to celebrate. He got to meet his new niece who was a whole 4 days
old by then. He went fishing with my DH and caught the largest fluke my DH
has ever seen! We had such a good time. It was a long time since my two
children have been able able to spend time together.
But wait, there's more........
My son left on Monday morning to meet up with his wife and daughter. But on
the way home to Florida, they all stopped here for several hours. Drum roll
please - I was actually able to get pictures of ALL THREE of my
grandchildren in one spot! I took pictures of my children with theirs and
the two oldest grands interacting (they would see each other again in a few
weeks when DH and I took our 5 yo grandson to Florida). It was heaven!
Took one big family picture which turned out great - everyone smiled.
But that's not the best news........
I told my son to call me when he arrived home since they were going to drive
straight through to Florida (a 14 hour drive on a good day). He called as
promised but had some extra news to share - they are expecting their second
child next spring! They had no idea but my DIL just had "that" feeling and
decided to take a test which turned out positive. So, my family photo
actually included my fourth grand child without anyone knowing. Of course,
now I have to figure out a way to get all four grands in one picture next
year.
Won't start any quilts until she tells me what they're having. But, I can
start a "non-gender specific" crocheted blankie!

Congrats on becoming a Grandma again - it never gets old, does it? It sounds
like you've had a wonderful opportunity over the past few weeks. It's so
nice that your entire family got to spend some time together. Not much can
beat that!
