Bought this book to use with my 4th Graders. Decided to actually make the
blocks. Traced them into EQ and paper-pieced the two I've done. They are
each 6½" and those pieces get tiny!! Two down, 48 to go. The color choices
are the "answer keys" to the pages in the book. Look in my Great States
Quilt Math Album.

Now I need to work on my Carol Doak November BOM.

maths, art, geography, statistics and 'QUILTING'. :))
what could be better than that. great find that one was.

the california block caught my attention, my home state. :)
tis easy to do with a green/purple 9 patch and 3D bow-tie
knots for the yellow on point squares.
just trying to simplify things for ya so ya get'em done
quicker, lol.
i like the two blocks done so far.

Thanks for the ideas on how to do the California block. I've been having a
heck of a time drawing the Kansas block! I might not do them all this year.

What will I do with them? -- Maybe put them all in one lap quilt. I might
not do anything with them until I retire in about 5 years. If I keep the
blocks separate for a while, I can hang them with the kids' papers. Then
when I retire, I could put them together as a memento of my teaching years.

The blocks are in alpha order in the book, and they are all connected to a
math skill. The first several pages have to do with place value -- if the
digit in the ones place is odd, color the space green. That kind of stuff.
We've been doing some multiplication lately, so I've skipped up to Kentucky
and Kansas. Might have the Kentucky block done this afternoon.

I'll put my Kansas block from EQ in Webshots. I'm probably bordering on
copyright violation already, so I'm reluctant to put a copy of the actual
page from the book up there.
