I've updated my website with some new pictures of quilts done in the
last few months. All are at
<http://webpages.charter.net/jaccola/Quilts2008.html>. They include
- a "Hungry Caterpillar" quilt for my youngest granddaughter
- two "Warm Wishes" baby quilts
- "Starring Elvis", a Stack-n-Whack using a print with Elvis pictures.

I still haven't decided how to finish "Eye of the Piper", but am leaning
toward not using the batik border, because I think it detracts from the
pieced blocks.

Howdy!

Good show!

That's more El-vi than I ever hope to see,
but I reckon that's how Gramma Travis (long-ago babysitter)
must have felt when she got a letter from Elvis; "just makes
my heart beat faster & my head spin" was how she described it
(back in 1962, when she was head of the local fan club). ;-D
This time he's the one that's all shook up.

Cheers!
R/Sandy

What a lovely group Julia.
I do agree with you about the batik border. It seems out of character
with the pieced part somehow, perhaps it is the black squarish
dominance? as opposed to all those beautiful curves, where the black is
less dominant? I love that pattern - so striking.

Wonderful quilts, Julia. That batik fabric you used to choose colors is
gorgeous -- but I'm not sure it "fits" with the finished quilt, for some
reason. :(

I really like Eye of the Piper with the batik. I think the Piper is strong
enough to withstand the strength of the batik. We always knew I dance to a
different tune but they're glorious together. Send them to me. I'll put
them together and love every minute ahhhhh-ing. That's a beauty. Polly
