SS calls the method you are doing with the batiks now
"Piecelique". She has separate DVD/patterns/etc for her
applique methods. Which class will you be doing - applique
or piecelique? I would love to be able to see her doing her
piecelique method. Please let us know about the class in
April.

: I'm taking the applique class from Sharon in Paducah this
April. I'll have
: to "compare and contrast" the two methods. I'm pretty
good at machine
: applique in terms of raw edge (satin stitch, blanket
stitch) so I doubt this
: is as fast, but it does look more like hand applique.

hey Cher,
Elmers is just PVA.
i like the look of Sharons Piecelique.
one of these days, lol.
just got online this morning and none the wiser what the technique/design
Kathyl is talking bout as i use dial up and the video is too big for me to
download in this lifetime, lol.
can anyone tell me who the designer was and i'll check the Simply Quilts
pages still up, might show a pix and then i'll know what we're discussing,
lol.
ok, ok, found it. at first glance, looks to be much like the piecelique
method.
ta for the heads up on that, kathyl. always on the lookout for patterns that
have curves for more ideas.
cheers,
jeanne

The book is by Dale Fleming. I believe she came "out" with this before
Sharon Schamber's book did. (Sharon was probably too busy making prize
winning quilts to write a book! I guess I could check....I DO have both
books! Have I ever admitted to being a book junkie?? Well, I guess I have
now!)
Jeanne, did you find my link to the SQ episode with the pictures? Not just
the video? It goes to show there really isn't all that much new in the
world. Many people come to the same ideas independantly.

yup, i did find it (didnt you read my previous msg, lol).
seems much like Sharon S's method, you can get the whole thing pix by pix
online at Sharons website, well used to be able to anyhow. dont know if shes
still got it all there.
a long long pdf file iirc.
must go check i guess, eh. else i'm talking thru my hat again.
oh oh, and saw all your oval blocks, gorgeous with all the batiks.
best hide those or you know who's gonna be round there snif'n them out, lol.
so how long does it take you to do one block now?
envious minds wanna know. :))
cheers,
jeanne

I haven't timed it. I'm not sure if I'm down to the six minute level or
not. I think that's what the author says it takes to make the inserted
circle block. I'm probably pretty close. But now I've got an assembly line
going. I'm preparing a bunch of blocks before sewing them. I think I've
got about 15 more ready to sew.
The little piece I was machine quilting is sitting all alone by the machine
now. Poor thing!
