Did ya miss me? Just got back from Denver. Thanks to the recommendation
of this group, I went to the quilt museum in Golden, Colorado on
Saturday. One room was all crazy quilts. They had a fair amount of info
on quite a few of the old quilts. One really amazing quilt was started
by a woman who was interned during WWII. She had a panel of ink on
fabric. She used Japanese fabrics to make a Dresden Plate medallion.
Sometime after the war she met a woman who would eventually start the
Golden Museum. This woman added to the medallion with crazy quilting.
The woman is now 103, and no one has any idea about the original woman.
Another quilt was a reversible quilt with signature blocks dated 1889.
That quilt has a twin that is hanging in a museum in Vermont. They hope
to have both quilts hanging side by side in the Golden Museum in the
next few years.

Went across the street to a small quilt shop. Really very nice ladies. I
didnot add too much to stash as I only had a limited amount of room in
the suitcase.

The wedding was fantastic. I gave the couple queen size Lover's Knot
quilt. Wish I could see it on their bed, but since I am here in Southern
CA and they are in Denver, that is not very likely.

Had a great time. Last night we went to a Rockies/Giants baseball game.
We had a clubhouse suite and then sat on the infield to see some of the
most fantastic fireworks. Understand the show tonight was rained out, so
am very glad I got to see it last night.

Well, I better get unpacked and back to my usual life so that I can
return to work in the morning.

Thanks for the report on the Golden
Quilt Museum. I'll keep it in mind for a
trip out there. You mentioned getting
ready for work. So, I take it your job
hunting has been successful?

Pat,

I have a temporary job as a secretary with the Orange County Department
of Education. They really like me and want to keep me, unfortunately, I
did not pass their oral panel to be on the eligibility list. If there is
no one on the list that they like, then they are going to play games and
keep me until the next panel-- I am eligible in December. I have no idea
if I have been successful yet or not. Love the job, love the people. I
want to keep this job, so lets all hope it finally works in my favor!!!
