The Yarn Forward store in town is advertising a new knitting book by
Jean Greenhowe and the link to her website also included a page of
free patterns for toys and dolls. http://www.jeangreenhowe.com/patterns.html
Years ago, I collected quite a few of her patterns from magazines and
I also have one of her books - never did knit any of the items
though. A UK cousin of mine used to knit these items for charity and
she also made an owl for me which I still have although it is missing
an eye (poor thing!) I keep telling myself that I have to sew it back
on.
enjoy the patterns. jennellh

Thanks for this link, my cousin is a passionate knitter of toys and I know
she will enjoy this website.

I learned how to knit this summer. Can anybody recommend a good book
to teach me how to make something by knitting??

Friend of mine bought the Knitting for Dummies book -takes you through
several projects in easy steps, helps with solving problems.
But you could make a scarf, for example, by casting on about 30
stitches with medium-size needles and yarn, then just keep going back
and forth until it's long enough. Boring, but if you do it until you
can knit even stitches with your eyes shut, then knitting becomes
second nature.

When I used to knit a lot, I had about four of JG's wonderful books. I
made no end of the little critters - I still have several, as toys for
my cats!! (I must find duck - one cat loved him!!). Thanks for the
site. I'll go and look there now!
