I bought a couple invisible zippers for a project. On the zipper package it
says to buy the Coats and Clark special foot for inserting them. As far as
I can tell, none of the shanks fit my Bernina 180. Any ideas? The foot is
supposed to groove with the zipper so it sews very close to the teeth as I
understand it.
This is this afternoon's project (instead of ironing dress shirts)...I'll
have to do the ironing if I can't figure this out! Help!

There is a Bernina adapter that will allow you to probably use
the foot made for the low shank (SInger type) foot. If you have
an old basic backup machine around it probably takes a more standard
foot you will find in the package of invisible zipper feet. If I
remember right a variety of invisible zipper feet coming in one little
blister pack.
I think my Bernina adaptor came from Clothilde years ago.

Taria, not sure if this is help or confusing.

I found my adaptor and that's what I think will fit the zipper foot. Now if
I can just channel some good vibes to put this in correctly. Not only is it
my first invisible zipper...it's going in Minkee! Sheesh.

Gosh when you go you go big Kathyl!
It has been a few years (at least) since I did
an invisible zipper. It was really easy. The
minkee should be a bit more work than a plain
fabric but you should do fine. I bet Kate
or Polly E. would know about this stuff.
We'll be looking for a good report back from
you.

for inserting zippers in any stretchy fabrics, Wonder Tape is great.
Wonder Tape is double sided tape, designed to be sewn through and it
washes out.
If you don't have any on hand, try using any water soluble glue and glue
the zipper in first. then sew it. <G>

Pati, in Phx who likes to insert zippers, don't usually have trouble
with any of them. (shrug)
