In my experience, patience is required for EVERYTHING, not just making
quilt blocks...

That apart, yes, it takes patience, determination, skill, and knowledge,
all of which can be acquired, with patience... ;)

I used to say: "Patience is a virtue.... I don't have"

My hubby says: "Patience is a vulture."

Gotta love it!

Patience is required for almost anything new we learn. We may come in
with a preconceived idea of how to accomplish [fill in the blank here
- be it skateboarding, riding a unicycle, building 3-D elephant out of
Legos, making a quilt]. there is a learning curve. We get impatient to
experience the end result and find the learning curve of it all
[having the skateboard shoot out from under foot, falling off the
unicycle, elephant looks like a water buffalo, quilt is a "what was I
thinking?"] without the patience and determination, we may walk away
and not continue. We have to convince ourselves and those who want to
learn, that it's okay to make mistakes and that's part of the process.

My first quilt was a king-size, for my folks' 45th wedding
anniversary. I did one more that same size, now everything is
smaller ;)

Patience is good, determination is good. I like to see that the idea/
design in my head matches the finished product.
Don't get me started on patience with electronics - that I don't have!
