A while back I got chided for not posting a local event. That's cool,
but a couple more are coming up shortly, so...

1. North Chili Quilt Show - Sep 18 - 19, 9am - 5pm both days
http://www.umcnorthchili.org/14.html

2. Central New York Shop Hop - Oct 15 - 18
See: (and scroll down a bit)
http://www.patriciasfabrichouse.com/

Prizes include $25 gas cards, which is kinda funny cuz it's going to
cost
several times that in gas to visit all the shops in the hop (Why
didn't the
organizers think of that??? Don't answer - it's a rhetorical
question)

Further down the page there is also mention of a quilt show that
happened in
August. I have no idea where it was or who sponsored it, and the page

Something is actually going on in North Chili? @@

I got to visit there a billion times for church stuff as a kid.
I thought the big event of the year was the car wash and conversion
event for the college acapella group.

Yup, 30th annual, no less!
Two amusing bits of trivia:

Though, as you say, Chili is pronounced with both "i"s long (as in
"lie"), the "Town of Chili was named after the Chiliast or Chilian
[both pronounced with a short "i"] religion."

There were more churches in Chili than in neighboring Churchville,
which was named for it's abundance of... churches!

Small world, ain't it?

My DH's sister lived in North Chili many years ago. She was a teacher and
when she retired she moved to North Carolina.

telaflora brings up a good point in her local quilt show thread.
Since I'll likely be going (dragged to) this event, should I be
looking to take pictures for you folks? If so, what kind? What should
I be looking for, and what kind of (digital) camera settings should I
be using/trying? Just got the camera, so haven't mastered it yet, and
likely won't have time to before the show. Any tips/suggestions? TIA
