So, a while back, Estelle had posted about being stateside for a bit
and about being in VA, not too far away from where I live. I sent her
my phone numbers so that we could try to get together. Well, this
morning, after a not so wonderful phone conversation with the
insurance company, I had an "out of area" call. Turns out it was
Estelle and she wanted to get together for coffee or whatnot. So....I
gave her directions to Books A Million (they have a nice little coffee
shop just inside, and waited for her to call me when she got closer
(they were about a hour away from where I live). Got some sewing
done, then the phone rang and I was out the door. Estelle and John
got there just a few minutes before me so we chatted as we got their
coffee and my juice. It was lovely to sit and chat about quilting,
people from RCTQ, the weather in my area, etc. John was quiet, but I
recognized the look of a resigned "spouse of a crafter" that he
wore....almost with pride...lol. Estelle is a sweetheart - talks
quite fast, like me, but with such a wonderful accent that you can
ignore the speed (this is NOT a slam...having moved south of the Mason-
Dixon line, everyone seems to be speaking REALLY slow). I heard a
little about Cornwall and their critters that they keep, Estelle's
numerous crafting interests, children, grandchildren and various
family members....almost felt like we were old friends catching up on
the families!!
Down side was that we couldn't find any cotton clothesline at Target
(same shopping center), so I think they were going to head off to
WalMart eventually to see if they had some. They were also going to
head over to Staunton to explore a little bit (I dutifully told them
about Rachel's Quilt Patch in Staunton as well as Valley Fabrics in
Stuarts Draft).
Though it seemed like time flew by, I think we actually spent about an
hour just chatting.
Thought y'all would want an update on her travels....she will be back
on the other side of the mountain tonight at her SILs house.....

Take it from me too, meet-ups are a wonderful and enriching
experience! Glad you had a good time Larissa.

Estelle called my house last week and left a voice mail. She was nearby and
would like a meet up, but did not have a cell phone number for me to call
her back, she said. Since I was at work most of the day, I missed her call,
so we did not meet after all. A disappointment, but not every plan to meet
works out. That's how it goes in RCTQ land.

She mentioned this as well and was disappointed at not being able to
meet with you. She called my cell to let me know that they were at
the book store and I have this horrendously long cell phone number on
my memory now...starts with something like +44 and goes on forever.
Perhaps next time they come over we can have a central VA meet up or
something.

I agree, meet ups ARE great! Early in Estelle's posts I was hoping
she'd be closer to me so I could try for a meet up w/her as well but
it didn't sound like that was going to be an option. Glad you were
able to work it out. Meeting Bronnie and her DH was a real treat for
us.
