Mickie's Westinghouse Thermocolor iron recommendation

Yes! I LOVE them! I tried all three of the Thermocolor irons that I ordered to be sure that they all heated up and had arrived safely and in working condition. I used one to iron some strip sets for a Triple Irish Chain. LOVE it! I didn't have to use my spray bottle or the steam, either one! It got hot enough that I could press the seams without any moisture. I've *never* been able to do that before in all my 20 years of quiltmaking! It's fun to watch it go thru the pretty colors as it heats up- AND if the temperature drops from the setting you have it on it changes color to let you know it's cycling to get back up to the proper heat. I think that's a great convenience since all irons have to do some type of cycling and with this one you *know* when it's doing it.

Yep, Mickie, I'm one happy gal. THANKS again for recommending them to us! And, while I only intended to buy two and accidently ordered three, I'm really glad that I did. A lifetime supply of these irons will be a GOOD thing.

PS: The one from Fingerhut arrived with the iron inside it's box inside another larger shipping box with no packing! It was just rattling around in there. The iron was fine, but I wasn't real pleased with the way Fingerhut shipped it. The two irons from Ken Wong/Wang (???) on eBay were beautifully packed and arrived in just a few days and were a few dollars cheaper for the iron and shipping and insurance than Fingerhut.

I'm glad all of your irons arrived in working order, and I'm so pleased that you like them! I'm wondering if everybody else has received theirs, and have you had a chance to try it out yet?

I used my new iron the other day.....the only thing I don't like about it is that there is no on/off switch. It needs to be unplugged or you need to wait until it shuts down on it's own. Am I missing something? Other than that, I think it's great!!! Love the colors and the steam and the heat.....

Still waiting for mine. Hopefully, it will be there when I arrive home tonight. Fingerhut says it was shipped on the 9th but my tracking number they supplied didn't work. I emailed Fingerhut and they assured me it was shipped so I am keeping my fingers crossed as I drive home.

Mine got here a couple days ago. Turned it on and did the original cleaning like it said to - got tired of holding my finger on the steam button, so left it on 2 and then finally just dumped out the rest of the water. I'm sure that by the tank was half empty it had to have been clean! I like the way it cycles through the colors. I've used too hot an iron on poly more than once because my iron hadn't cooled down as much as I thought it had. Haven't used it yet for real.

Mickie, Got mine about the same time as Leslie. Bought from E Bay for the first time. Have used for quilty stuff and clothes (ugh). Wonderful. Takes 1/2 the time because you don't have to go over & over to get a good press. And the pretty colors are distracting from the drudge work. Thanks for letting us know about them. Ken Wang really sold a bunch of irons, didn't he!! That's where I got mine.

I have mine plugged into a surge protector. That way I turn off everything at one time when I leave my sewing room. It's probably a no-no, but I have my iron, sewing machine, serger and lamp all plugged into the same surge protector and have never had any problems.
