Nah, our government is stupid too.
We have to cope with all manner of trade restrctions and tariffs on
stuff from Oz for various stupid political reasons. It is one of the
reasons that wool is ridiculously expensive here.
If you shop you can find a queen size 60/40 wool/poly queen batt for
about US$40. I do believe that the way pricing on those runs that we
end up paying about what you do, only in US$.

Of course the US$ has pretty much gone to crap.
A cause of much wailing and gnashing of teeth at my house. Because my
favorite boot shop in Shropshire is haveing a clearance sale. And at
18 pounds off the regular price, the boots I have been swooning over
for ages are more expensive today than they were a year or so ago at
the regular price.
