That's what I thought. Nope, lab fur still forms tumbleweeds!

Guess again.
And let us not forget that the first question Leslie asked was:

If that question is of significance, then a Lab wins over a Golden or
a Cocker.
There are many good reasons why Labs are *the* most popular breed in
North America, bar none.
Final word, end of discussion, I win, ya wanna fight about it, yadda,
yadda, yadda, and NYAH!

I doubt you could go wrong with a lab or a golden. I really
prefer the looks of a golden but I have known a couple of
labs I would have welcomed into my home as pets. I like
the idea of a cocker spaniel too but ever since the neighbor
one bit me I kind of hold a grudge. He got out and I tried to
help. He has the ear problems and is close to deaf. He didn't
see me (he needed groomed) and didn't hear me so I scared
him and he nipped. The ear thing is a concern but any animal
can have physical problems with ( and really without ) bad
breeding. I'm not sure if Labs have the same cancer concerns
as goldens. Less chance of dealing with that could win me
over.

cocker spaniels are great pets....had one for 13 years
before I had to put him down.
Cocker Spaniels are not an easy dog to take care of.
They need to be groomed all the time, a lot of them are
born with eyelids turned inside which scratches their eyes
until they eventually go blind; you really have to keep
their ears clean and cleaner the older they get. And
they usually don't like their feet messed with unless they
have been trained otherwise as a pup. My ole Dukie
hated that no matter what I did to show him it was a safe
thing to do...
I wouldn't have traded the years I had with my Duke
for anything. And now, almost 10 years later, thinking
of him and all that he meant to me, still brings tears.
But I would never buy a cocker spaniel again. They
are high upkeep.
