I didn't want to tell my scary kitty story until Cheeto was found and safe.
Years ago I had a gorgeous big long-haired sweetheart of a black cat who
lived outdoors in our garage and barns due to my allergies. One day he came
up missing. I found him when an empty 50 lb. horse feed sack moved. He had
been playing with a dangling lure on a fishing pole and got the
treble-hooked fishing lure (with three wicked three-pointed barbed hooks!)
buried in his belly and then in his four legs/feet as he battled the lure to
get it loose from his belly. And then he managed to drag himself into the
empty feed sack. I guess he felt safer in there while he was hurt??? It
was the most frightening thing to see the poor guy all hooked into a
contortion. The vet quickly put him to rights with some anesthesia and a
few minor snips of skin here and there. And we hide the fishing poles
behind closed doors as soon as we got home!
Soooo glad Cheeto had a happy ending to his Lost Story.

When I first brought my Weedy cat home, he was so tiny that I had to
feed him with an eye dropper. I knew my Lhasa Apso (Tashi) was good
with kitties, but he was soooo tiny. I got a huge box, probably close
to 4 feet tall, and put my tiny little kitty in a nice, soft snuggly
bed in one corner with his water dish in another corner and the
littler box in still another corner. I figured he'd be safe and sound
while I was at work. Hah. I came home, went straight to the box, and
Weedy was gone. Four inches of kitten managed to get out of that huge
box. So the hunt began, and all I could think was that Tashi must have
eaten him or torn him to shreds and hidden his mangled little body. I
was sobbing while I looked. Nowhere. He was gone. I called my then
boyfriend (somehow he still married me, even after all this) and he
came over and looked. No kitty. I was still crying. All night, no
kitty and I was just beside myself. But I got up and dressed for work
the next morning and while I was drinking my coffee, I heard the
tiniest little 'meow' and followed it into the bedroom. He was under
the dresser. There was maybe an inch high notch out of the bottom of
the dresser and Weedy had crawled under there. I called Russ and he
came over and lifted the dresser while I grabbed Weedy. I cleaned him
up and fed him till his little tummy was all full and .... what could
I do? I put him back in the box and covered the top with a bed sheet.
Of course, when I came home, he was right back under the dresser.
Through all this Tashi had been so patient and so good and finally, I
just sat on the floor and put Weedy in front of her. She nosed him and
licked him and picked him up by the scruff of his little neck and
carried him to her bed. I had to go to work, but decided that it just
couldn't get any worse. When I came home, Tashi came running to meet
me, like always. And there behind her came Weedy, running to the door.
Oh boy. What a relief. So the big box went away and the littler box
went in the bathroom and Weedy became Tashi's puppy. It worked. I
still don't know how, but it did. LOL.
Good luck and take some photos. I want to see Cheeto.

I have to tell you all that he is as changed "man" since the surgery.
One of our gentlemen members mentioned that it could take several days
for the hormones to work their way out of Cheeto's system. I think it
only took several hours!!
After he finally came out of hiding, he joined me in the computer
room and proceeded to again crawl into my lap, started to purr, circled
his wagons, lay down and went back to sleep!!! This was a first --
something he had never done before joining The Clippers Club! He was
always a sweetie and let you pick him up and hold him for a bit but
wasn't one for sitting on your lap or snuggling except at night in bed
(JUST LIKE A MAN -- LOL). Now he wants to have a bit of a snooze in my
lap whenever I am at the 'puter AND when I am in my chair in front of
the telly trying to do some needlework :-).
He is going to be a great kitten for the SMDGD. Young and feisty
enough to live with a First Grader and a 5 year old dog sister yet sweet
and loving enough to live with a First Grader AND her mommy :-).
Needless to say, I am quite glad that he came out of hiding and wasn't
stuck somewhere or hurt. I will also be quite glad when he goes to his
new home and I will be done with this whole "raising another cat child"
thing. DH, OTOH, is liable to really miss the little one. He's not
here all day having to deal with all the kitten crap this little guy
tries to get away with. But then, DH is the one with the large mole on
his upper left chest that Cheeto thinks is a nipple and nurses on each
night with the requisite loud purring, nuzzling to get the "nipple" in
his mouth just right and then exposing his little claws to "snurf" in an
effort to squeeze out the nonexistent mother's milk -- LOLOLOL!

Sandy, I did the same thing. :-) But being a cat person myself, I knew
how worried Mary was and wanted to send her "good stuff" for finding
Cheeto ASAP!
Best regards,
