I am most upset. I haven't been able to find Cheeto for FOUR hours
now and I'm very worried! He went to the Baby Dr. yesterdays and joined
the "clippers club" and *he* is now an *it* :-). He was a sweet little
boy to begin with but being neutered has made a difference in just one
day. This morning, he climbed in my lap, started to purr and "snurf",
circled his wagons and lay down and went to sleep! He's never done that
before, always scrunching down behind the computer monitor to have his naps.
I have been upstairs doing laundry all morning. When I went
downstairs to feed the kitties their morning treat of canned food, I
called all the kitties telling them it was time for "can-can". As I
opened the cans of food, all three girls were there meowing and acting
as if they were starved (I was late feeding them). I was surprised that
Cheeto wasn't there as he is usually there before any of the girls!
I went all through the house calling him but he never showed up.
After an hour of searching, I called DH and HE even came home to help
look. There really is no way he could have gotten outside. All of the
window screens are closed tight. I checked the screen room and none of
those screens are loose. All of the door leading outside are tightly
closed. We have searched *every* closet several times even though they
were not opened. We checked behind every piece of furniture and all
appliances, checked on top of all shelves and furniture. Looked up
under the fabric that covers the bottom of sofas, beds, etc. We have
looked in, on, around and under everything we can find but there is
STILL no sign of him.
I have had cats my whole life and I KNOW all the tricks they can
pull and places they can hide. THAT is why I am so upset. When a
kitten who LOVES canned food doesn't come out of hiding for that food,
it's time to worry! So, I have been saying my prayers to St. Frank all
morning and decided to ask everyone here to send "good stuff" so that
Cheeto will come out of hiding and I won't have to worry anymore. I
have NO IDEA what has happened. A kitten just doesn't disappear for
four hours and ignore canned food. I also have NO IDEA how he could
possibly have gotten outside so I'm **almost** positive he is in this
house somewhere. I just hope he's not gotten hurt somehow! I'll let
everyone know if and when he turns up as I am sure he will if you guys

When lily was new here we couldn't find her. I went to the kitchen,
opened a cupboard for a glass and there she was lying in the space
next to the drinking glasses. She is a climber too. Do you have a
bed that might have the underlining ripped where a kitty could
climb up in? Maybe Cheeto could be hung over from the meds
yesterday and is sleeping it off somewhere?
Sending hopes that you find him soon. We have had some scary
can't find times with the inside kitties and they always work
out good. I know Cheeto has found a really good hiding spot.

You said you were doing laundry -- no chance he got into the dryer or is
hiding in the laundry area?

Mary,
First, the hormones just don't work out of his system that fast - it
takes a few days.
Second, animals react differently to anesthetics just as humans do.
If the procedure was done yesterday it is entirely possible that he is
still sleeping it off today, or he may just be feeling poorly and
doing the same. Have you called the vet yet? If not, I think it
would be prudent to ask what may be happening. Keep looking, but
panic won't help; thinking will. Our thoughts are with you.

Catlet-finding and homing vibes on the way! I know I get worried when
ours fail to be where and when they are expected...
