I get that periodically if I don't drink enough water -- we live in a
*very* dry climate. It doesn't usually last as long as yours will, but
it's really funny to watch people trying *not* to look at the affected

Hi Alice,
My mom developed the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago. She looks
fine now, but it was indeed alarming at first. The information I
gleaned from various internet sites is that it's really pretty common.
No worries. Soon your eye will be back to normal.
Best regards,

What, blowing an eye vessel or crunching too hard?

I hope you replied, "Arrh!"
I've had a couple/few of them in my time; yep, they look scary, and
are always worth having checked out to be sure. Accept the jokes in
stride, and have your snappy comebacks at the ready. Take a few
pictures, and be sure to pose appropriately. It's just one of those
(fortunately usually harmless) things...

I have taken some pictures and you are correct - it looks far scarier
in the pictures. I am happy to report that the blood is receeding! I
have one large area that is still pretty red, but faded somewhat. The
other areas are pretty well faded and should be gone within a day or
two. The doctor was right - leave it alone and it will be gone in
10-14 days. Today is day 10.
