For a year and a half+ we have been feeding an abandoned cat. He became
our front porch cat. We fed him and he wandered about at will. He never
came in the house but was window friends with our kitties and very sweet
to us. We guess that he was abandoned as a repo cat. He was fixed so
someone must have considered him theirs at some point. He went missing
yesterday and today dh found him around the corner hit by a car. I feel
so sad. This is why I never would agree to cats and then ended up with
inside only cats until little gray. It took me most of my life to
realize it isn't that I don't like cats, I don't like cat owners. Too
many bad ones around. I hope whoever left that poor kitty and the
others wandering about rot in hell. I'll miss that darned little gray
kitty. He was a special guy. RIP little gray.

That is so sad Taria. My SIL lives in Lancaster & she & her husband trap
feral cats all the time. They get them neutered & take care of them until
they find new homes for them. Sometimes, they even help birth new kitties,
cause when they get trapped, they are already pregnant. Do you live out by
Lancaster?
In my lifetime, I have only had 4 cats & they were all feral, except for
one. I like to feel I saved them & gave them a good life.

Thanks Pauline. I am about 45 miles east of your sil in Victorville.
(you might have seen the new houses being demolished here on the news
last week) I can get a kitty 'fixed' for $15 with a city voucher.
That is a pretty good deal. I am hoping we are coming to an end to
the folks walking out on homes and their pets in the area.

That's sad, Taria. I have felt the same way you did about cats all my
life, until I learned that, given the right circumstances, cats can live
perfectly happily indoors. Now I know the delights of feline company
without the dangers to them of a life outside. Yes, I researched the
breeds which could/couldn't and made sure that my kittens' ancestry was
all indoor. My wild garden birds and little voles are safe, too!

The 3 inside here now are pretty happy. 2 don't know any different.
The 'birderer' (bird murderer as described by dd) is Ginger dog. She
has caught more than a couple birds and is a mouser. She is very
patient and persistant. : (
