Tis the season for daughters to fret about burning their hair off, and
mamas to wonder how they managed to forget the saffron on the shopping
list.
Saint Lucy day is only 5 days off, and _now_ I find that our Ash needs
to be got up as a gingerbread man for the festival at the museum. At
least they had the sense not to pick him for a star boy (he would
never keep the hat on) or a lantern boy (fire, bad). The only excuse
the other adults in the house had for not telling me til now was "you
have been sick and we figured that a gingerbread boy would be easy.",
then they escaped and ran out to buy saffron. Though I gather that
they only found out last week.
I am not sure I recall having ever seen gingerbread men in the
procession, so I am not sure what to do! I will call the museum in
the morning and ask. I gather his whole class from school (or all who
are willing) is to participate, so maybe he won't be the only funny
looking ginger boy if I end up wrapping him in brown corduroy and
gluing raisins on him.

I don't know about corduroy - that stuff can be mighty hot. I guess a lot
depends on the heat/cold where this production is to take place. Also,
instead of raisins, why don't you use some craft paint and put some tasteful
(sorry, I just couldn't help myself) squiggly lines and curlicues on the
suit? Enjoy creating the outfit. It will probably become his favorite for
sleepwear for a long time. Polly

I don't think that would be "our NightMist" - if I've learned *anything*
from readin' her posts and hearin' about her "doin's" it would be that
NightMist is too .... ingenious to use an ol'standby. I see her creatin' a
fabric confection equal to that of a Broadway play - yet in half the time,
and half the expense, and from the humblest of materials. If anyone could
sew the proverbial "silk purse out of a sow's ear" it would be NightMist!!
And if it's not already been requested, I formally request that she post
pics!!! :)
Hugs & good luck!!

Well, yes, that may well be true; however, I suspect that Ash has more than
his share of sensory issues and may not tolerate a gingerbread creation. All
the autistic boys I am familiar with (and I teach children with autism)
would happily wear sweat suits, thus my suggestion. Utilitarian,
comfortable, easy.
