I was wondering if there's a meaning to the word scotland that doesn't
refer to it's geographical location or statehood?

It originally meant the country of the Scotti.

Who were originally Irish and never occupied more than 10% of the
country.

I'm a Scot too and Scotland just means land of the Scots. Never heard if
referred to as "shadows of heaven". It was also known as Caledonia by the
Romans.
