That's it, Bobbie. I would just add that I like to use very long loops for

this purpose, to well and truly tangle up the cat. <evil grin>

Thanks Bobbie and Edna, I will try this, starting with maybe medium
loops.... just as soon as we get their fleas under controll, they have too
much stress now. One of the reasons we never let them outdoors, and they
still managed to pick up the darn pests!

It really is easier and better for the cats to keep them indoors. The
parasite exposure, disease exposure, poison exposure, traffic exposure,
fight exposure, etc. are all much worse outdoors. Keeping them in will save
you a lot of trips to the vet.
The road I live on used to be red clay and low traffic. When the county
paved it, I started keeping my cats in. They made the adjustment very well
and I have really enjoyed the improvement in our shared quality of life.

The cat could get strangled or lose a leg to gangrene that way.
My Ishmael picked a fight with ten feet of unrolled duct tape
when he was a kitten. The duct tape won. It took about ten
minutes to cut him free and he had a snip-at-random punk haircut
when I'd finished.

That's why I said "masking tape," and I was thinking I should reiterate that
last night. Use a lightweight paper tape that the cat will tear through
easily. I've never seen a cat get hurt this way, or even stay tangled for
more than a matter of seconds, and I've been doing it for years. The cat's
not going to stay tangled anymore than a cat would stay tangled in a sheet
or blanket, and is not any more dangerous than leaving your bathrobe with a
detachable belt in a cat's reach.
By all means, don't use duct tape or plastic tape, any tape that doesn't
tear, or any tape with a strong adhesive,
and do use common sense.
