So is the convection part like having a toaster oven combined w/ the
microwave? Or is it more powerful than that. Extra cooking space could
be quite useful for company as Taria says. (I have an ancient microwave
that keeps on working so I'm not in the market for a replacement yet but
there's no harm in being prepard!)

This is the one I am looking at:
http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SpecPage&Sku=JVM1790CK
I am not real familiar with the way a toaster oven is used.
I would think this machine is bigger and more versatile
but not sure. It heats to 450 but is slow to get that high
I guess because it is only 120 volts.
HTH Allison.

Howdy!
Our 20-yr old standard oven smoked, so I named it Old Smokey;
least little bit of something (fumes!) got on the coils &
"Old Smokey" would set off the smoke alarm.
So 2 yrs ago we decided to replace the old oven,
which was tied into the circuit w/ the old microwave oven
in the same part of the wall.
Went to the appliance store, trying to explain to
know-it-all-&-women-don't salesman (SmartAssSalesman).
Me: "I need a microwave/standard oven combination unit;
Old Smokey Oven is killing the smoke alarm, the micro has a rod knock."
SAS: Microwave & oven? A microwave IS an oven.
Me: "And I need the combo unit."
SAS: Ma'am, where does the microwave go?
"In the same cabinet, on top of Old Smokey."
... everyone in the store was laughing... I got what

I wanted after pointing at pictures in the catalog. <g>
Love the new oven w/ the hidden coils: no smoke.
No convection, either, because I'm not in that big a hurry.

This is Texas: I toast enough outside. <g>
