I am putting the binding on a quilt I have been assembling while
watching the Olympics, and will have the binding finished and all the
basting removed before the games are finished. Then I'll take it to
the laundromat and give it a wash and dry before putting it away.
This is the third whole cloth twin bed sized quilt in a group of
four. All are different, of course! I have 2 great nieces and 2
great nephews, and my plan is to have a quilt for each someday, which
I hope they will enjoy. Each quilt is made in large panels, stitched
in colored thread, and edged and bound in another color. Since it is
100% hand work I am signing and dating each quilt with embroidery on
the front where it can be found but is not too obvious. The eldest is
now 6 and the youngest is 3 months old, and I have made each one a
crochet afghan, each of which I understand is used almost continually
with breaks for the laundry. Those afghans have been on beds, floors,
chairs, and sofas, in cars, and in campers, and at Grandma's for
similar use. The quilts they will have to wait for, of course! The
next one -- and perhaps last -- is ready to begin, so I'll cut, mark,
sandwich, and baste before Labor Day. Then I may put it aside. Or
may not. I do enjoy whole cloth work, and am arrogant enough to use
colored thread on white background.

We need pictures! What a nice thing to make for them. I don't do
hand work anymore because of the arthritis in my hands. I miss it.

My DH has a 'mantra' - used at every possible opportunity (most often if
I've left something a bit tight for time):
'Earliest possible completion date'. It drives me absolutely *mad* >gg<
.
