Hi everyone,
I rejoined a little while back after a year or so away from the group.
It's been a bittersweet year for me. You all helped me with my first
quilt, with encouragement and ideas. Thank you.
My daughter got married; a budget affair that turned out beautifully.
DH and I went on a long planned for holiday to Europe and the UK. My
FIL got very ill and we almost lost him, but happily we didn't have to
hurry back from Europe to NZ. We bought a block of land in the country
and planned to build on it. DS2 got married. My father died just as
settlement on the block went through (same day). We had to fly to NZ
for a visit to FIL just in case. We put our house on the market after
a lot of beautifying for the sale. Interest rates went up twice the
month it went on the market.
DS2 broke up with wife. DD fell pregnant unexpectedly, had to stop
work and had $$$ probs.
Sold our house for $20,000 more than hoped for. Had big storms and
tree fell on power cable to house meaning major repair and insurance
claim. DD had beautiful baby boy in April on the heels of the storm
necessitating my driving 3 hours cross country 5 times in the one
week(few issues with birthing).
Moved to country where we will build our house on the block. Retired
from work to be Site supervisor for building.
SO there you have me. Now NOT working and time for Quilting.
In all that time I have quilted one more top and a glasses case.
Problem is all my quilting patterns and mags & Co are in storage. But
I do have my machine and fabrics. SO, all I need is some motivation
and encouragement because I am happy to say I now have Time!
Lovely to meet you all!

So sorry about your father.
Hope you will have a rather less eventful next 12 months.

Welcome (back)! You have certainly had an eventful year, and congrats
on the grandchild! When does everything come out of storage? Until
then the Internet is a great source of all possible patterns. Try
Quilter's Cache for more free blocks than anybody will ever have time
to make, plus lots of design ideas.

My sympathies for the loss of your FIL. Seems like you have also had your
hands full with children issuess also. If it is any consolation (never is)
my DS and his wife broke up after 4 months when she decided marriage wasn't
for her and moved back in with her parents. ( think he was better off
personally.)

I second the notion to go to Quilters Cache. I have tons of magazines, books
and internet articles, but where do I go? QC where else...LOL

Good to see you back and enjoy your retirement.
