I'm on my way to a special quilt exhibit in Colonial Williamsburg this

Details later!

Here are the details I promised! :)
The quilt exhibit was at the Abby Aldridge Rockefeller Gallery in the DeWitt
Museum of Art in Williamsburg. It is part of the Colonial Williamsburg
Foundation. The exhibit will run for a year ... until June 2009.
The theme was Stars on bedcoverings. There were about nine quilts, and one
woven coverlet. Most were quite old, 18th and 19th century. One was an Amish
quilt from 19920, and one was a quilt from 1987. Several were absolutely
gorgeous, most were very interesting and some had some unique facets that
set them apart. The 'newer' quilt did not impress me at all. The Amish quilt
had amazing hand quilting, as did a White on White quilt. Price to enter the
DeWitt is $9.00; admission is included in some CW passes. There is a lot to
see in the DeWitt, including some other quilts and textiles. If you come to
Virginia, consider visiting the Gallery. Also, let me know, and maybe we can
meet!

Too bad I didn't realize that you were so close to CW! DH and I spent 3
days there on our return from Florida in April. We had great weather, and
our pass included just about everything. We spent a whole morning in the
DeWitt. The quilts were amazing, and I loved seeing all the samplers as
well.
I'll have to let you know the next time we are passing through your way.....

Susan: I'd have enjoyed meeting you too. My guild will be hosting a quilt
show the first week end of May, 2009. If that is not too late for you, I'd
love for you to see it!

Unfortunately, due to rules of both governments, DH and I limit our time in
the US each year. We usually head south near the end of October and return
home mid-April.
Any year that we plan to visit during the summer, we have to shorten our
winter stay.
