A neighbouring village is having an Autumn Festival in September -
Flowers in the church, Choral Concerts, and a Craft Exhibition in the
Church Hall. A friend is organising it, and has asked if I can
contribute something to the exhibition.

I don't want to put any of my current quilts in - not sure of the
security, so thought I'd do a smallish (say 36" squareish) wall-hanging
with an Autumn Glory theme. I'd be sad if it walked, but not as
heartbroken as loosing a bigger quilt.

I've Googled Autumn Quilt patterns but haven't found anything that
inspired me. Has anyone please got any ideas - pointers - favourite
sites. Think I would prefer 'serious' rather than pumpkins with smiley
faces!! At the moment all I can 'see' is orange!

I have a feeling that the poem 'Season of Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness'
will be played to death by the flower arrangers!

Anything in fall colors -- orange, brown, rust, gold, green. Something
in a leaf pattern, like Carol Doak's "Autumn Leaves" from her book "Easy
Paper-pieced Keepsake Quilts" or something using the Maple Leaf block;

Here's another fall leaves pattern that I have (but have not used yet):

How about a simple cornucopia? I have a stencil book that
has a number of designs that I have made up in fabric and
there is a nice cornucopia there. And another in a stained
glass book that would look good in fabric. Just thought
they might be quicker and easier than some other methods.

I just had a try with Google, Images, using the words 'Autumn Leaves
quilt patterns'. There were loads to choose from. Perhaps one might
even lead to instructions on how to make it. When you click on the
thumbnail, you get back to where the picture was originally included.
It's always a fun exercise!

Thank you all for your suggestions. I now have a little pile of quilt
pictures saved and some cornucopii drawings too, so have plenty to
inspire me.

I couple of ideas jumped out at me a bit - ones I could combine, so I'll
have another think tomorrow. I could make it to fit my funny
hall/kitchen window of course, so it would be a useful project too!

I was reading my Jinny Beyer Tessellation book earlier, and then I found
a tessellated maple leaf quilt when I did Pats Google, so might even try
drawing one out and make use of the book at last. Could even do
2.......... Definitely bed time at 1.00a.m. (I was going to have an
early night!).
